Impressionism (fr. impressionnisme – “impression”) is one of the largest trends in art in the last third of the 19th century.
Representatives of impressionism strove to develop methods and techniques that made it possible to most naturally and vividly capture the real world in its mobility and changeability, to convey their fleeting impressions.
