Curvy Fashion or as it was often written before for “stout women” appears in the 1910s, when corsets went out of fashion. Before that, women were tightened with corsets to a fashionable silhouette. In the late 1900s, in the 1910s, advice appeared for Size Plus ladies – how to visually make their figure slimmer. Silhouette lines, patterns, often multi-layered clothing and shapewear helped make a woman slimmer. However, looking now at the multitude of drawings with the signature “stout” causes amazement.
