Portraits and Fashion from Jane Austen’s Time
Fashion of Jane Austen’s Time — or, more precisely, the time of her works.
This selection features not only English fashion and portraits of the Regency era, but also examples from Western European culture more broadly, in order to offer a more complete picture of the period. A key principle behind this подборка was the emphasis on as precise dating as possible.
The dating of the works themselves may be open to debate; however, the publication dates were used as the primary reference point, since many of the texts were written and revised over extended periods of time. The only exception is Lady Susan, where the gap between its composition and publication is too significant.
Early works, as well as the unfinished novel Sanditon, have not been included in this overview. This decision may introduce a degree of условности, for which the author offers apologies in advance.
